Bobby Aitken

Bobby has been involved with theatrical sound design for over 20 years. Using his expertise he has created phenomenal work both in the UK and around the world, from small-scale theatres to grand arenas, including the opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympics.

Bobby's recent productions include the West End transfer of Standing at the Sky's Edge (Crucible Theatre, The National & Gillian Lynn Theatre).

Bobby’s West End and Broadway productions include: Tammy Faye (Almeida Theatre), Grease (Piccadilly Theatre), Mamma Mia! (Worldwide), Desperately Seeking Susan (Novello Theatre), Dirty Dancing (Worldwide), We Will Rock You (Worldwide) Lennon (Broadway), Cyberjam (Queen’s Theatre), Blast! (London, USA), Grease (Dominion Theatre, London and UK tours), Return To the Forbidden Planet (Cambridge Theatre, London, USA, Japan and Australia), Five Guys Named Moe (Albery Theatre and tours), Which Witch?, Metropolis (Piccadilly Theatre).

 For the past few years, Bobby has been working to create techniques to deliver credible sound reinforcement for large-scale, in-the-round opera production. Credits include: Carmen, Madame Butterfly, Aida, “Cav and Pag”, Tosca, Aida and La Bohème (Royal Albert Hall).

 Bobby’s design for the Australian production of We Will Rock You won him the 2005 Helpman Award for Best Sound Design.
