Miranda Cromwell

Miranda is an Associate Director at Chichester Festival Theatre.

Miranda is a director making work through new writing, devised work, musicals and classic texts. She has additional skills in movement direction and dramaturgy.

Miranda Cromwell’s credits as co-director include Olivier Award-winning  Death of a Salesman (Young Vic Theatre/West End transfer), the production also received a Black British theatre award for best production.

Directing credits include: Mlima's Tale (Kiln Theatre), The Beekeeper of Aleppo (Nottingham Playhouse), Swing Sister Swing (UK Tour), Rockets and Blue Lights (National Theatre, Manchester Royal Exchange/ BBC radio 3) Oncomm Best audio drama award, and breathe… (Almeida Theatre), Half Breed (BBC iplayer, Talawa Theatre/Soho Theatre/Edinburgh Fringe Festival/India tour), Magic ElvesHey Diddle DiddleSense (Bristol Old Vic), Pigeon English (Edinburgh Fringe Festival/Bristol Old Vic), The Rest of Your Life (Bush Theatre) Death and Treason (Bristol Old Vic/UK tour).

As Associate Director her credits include Company- Olivier award for Best Musical Revival, Critics Circle Award for Best Musical (Gielgud Theatre), Angels in America- Olivier and Tony Award for Best Revival (National Theatre/Neil Simon Theatre, Broadway),  A Monster Calls- Olivier Award for Best Entertainment and Family (Old Vic/ Bristol Old Vic), Coram Boy (Colston Hall).

Miranda has directed new writing for the National Theatre, Manchester Royal Exchange, Bush Theatre, Talawa Theatre and Soho Theatre. She attended the National Theatre studio director’s course in 2015, and was a director on the Old Vic 12 in 2019. She has led workshops and directed rehearsed readings for the National, Company Three, the Kiln Theatre, Lamda, Synergy Theatre and the Royal Court. Miranda has also been a script reader for the National Theatre and the Bruntwood prize.

Miranda is the Artistic Director of Twisted Theatre, a diverse collective of artists making theatre in immersive and site-responsive ways.

Her awards include an Olivier for best direction for co-directing on Death of a Salesman 2020, and a nomination for an Evening Standard award for the same production.
